The Challenge

ModernHippi is a growing Shopify store. They use Facebook ads and Google Analytics to get more sales, but their tracking was not working correctly.

This created several challenges:

  • Purchase data was often missing from their reports.
  • Facebook couldn’t match website visitors to user profiles, which hurt ad performance.
  • They could not tell if a buyer was a new or a returning customer.
  • There were big gaps between what their store did and what their reports showed.
  • Deduplication is Mitch match due to event id is change in sGTM

They needed a system that captured every customer action accurately.

Our Solution

Our Fix: A Complete Server-Side System

We built a new server-side tracking system using Google Tag Manager to fix these problems.

Here’s what we did:

  1. Connected Facebook and GA4: We set up the Facebook Conversion API (CAPI) and Google Analytics 4 (GA4). This sends data directly from their server to the ad platforms, making it much more reliable.
  2. Tracked Every Customer Step: We tracked all standard e-commerce actions, including page views, adds to cart, and purchases.
  3. Added Custom Tracking: We also added custom tracking to see who was a new customer and who was a returning one. This gives them deeper insight into their business.
  4. Improved Ad Matching: We sent extra details like emails and names to Facebook. This helped it match website actions to the right people, making ads more effective.
  5. Made the System Strong: The whole system runs on a private server with their own domain, making it fast, secure, and ready for the future.
  6. Change the event id: We change event id variable to unique event id and deduplication process solve.

Results

The Outcome: Clear Data and Smarter Ads

ModernHippi now has accurate data they can trust.

  • Facebook’s event match quality jumped to 9 out of 10. This makes their ads much more effective.
  • They now see the full customer journey in both GA4 and Facebook, from the first click to the final purchase.
  • They can create different ads for new and returning customers, which improves their marketing.
  • Their tracking is now ready for future internet changes and privacy rules.
